Dr Matt Domingo

New Zealand born and Australian grown with roots in Sri-Lanka, Matt is an award-winning performing artist, voice artist and medical doctor. A true multi-hyphenate, he seamlessly blends his talent for acting, dancing, singing, and music with his rigorous medical training to create authentically grounded performances.

 

Matt brings an unparalleled perspective to his work, shaped by his unique upbringing in regional Australia and his years in the demanding world of healthcare, with experience in general medicine, surgery, critical care, paediatrics and psychiatry. His invaluable life experience and encounters with people of all walks of life and cultures have allowed him to imbue his work with authenticity, emotion and understanding on a much deeper level. This, coupled with his strong work ethic, personable nature and genuine passion for the craft have landed him roles in internationally acclaimed productions, including the live-action 'Voltron' film (Amazon MGM), award-winning crime drama 'High Country' (BINGE) and Logie nominated children's hit Rock Island Mysteries (Nickelodeon).

 

His remarkable stage presence and versatility as a triple threat performer have led to collaborations with Melbourne Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre, JUTE Theatre Company, Hayes Theatre Company, Brisbane Festival, working with renowned theatremakers including Shakthi Shakthidharan, Vidya Makan, Tasnim Hossain, Kate Miller Heidke, Keir Nuttall and Simon Phillips. In 2025, Matt originated the role of 'Hamish' in the world premiere of 'O, Ophelia' and will be making his Queensland Theatre debut in 'Back to Bilo'.
